Wow, that is the most retarded thing I've heard in a while. Not sure what your scale is, but 2-27' wide mirrors ain't exactly your backyard Meade, now is it. I'm guessing your ignorantly trying to get a rise out of someone - I'll let your comment sit for a while then pull it - unless you repent, stupido.

Brake that mirror, and you get 7 million years bad luck; not only that but it wouldn't half hurt if you dropped on your foot.

I am Happy with my Celestron C11" CGEM Telescope!! This Telescope is far,far to LARGE and Hyper-EXPENSIVE, only for Professional Astronomers!!!!
-
I want one.

@cpnstav Since you aren't capable of proper spelling or punctuation, the explanation would be abstruse.
-
@finalnexus Your right, they should have re-invented the wheel - added billions in complexity with unproven "technology". Retard.
-
@cpnstav They need an instrument this large to try and find your brain. Silly scientists - I could have told them where it is: in your rectum.

Outstanding video! :) Wish I could get out there to check it out in person.
Thanks!

What awesome machinery! How lucky you were to see them actually move it. I've been to several observatories and never did I get to see that! I hope to visit the LBT soon before it stops being the largest telescope in the world (around 2015). I grew up around 30 miles from Safford and moved away in the 70s so its really cool to know that incredible scope is now there. Thanks for the video!
If you have specific sections you'd like pics of I may have them archived - let me know. (I'm just a hobbyist lucky enough to get in to see it once a year or so)

What's the status on this thing?
The website has nothing on it and looks
like it was either abandoned or designed
by a 3 year old.
I managed to find some images from 2007 that were taken before it had both mirrors operational.Considering it's a university website for the most powerful telescope in the world I was expecting a little more :-(

As I understand it, there was a lull getting instruments but now they are on a fasttrack getting things installed. The illustrations were/are horrible - I couldn't figure it out either until I realized they are inaccurate. They are getting light on both mirrors, mechanically it is finished, again except for the instruments.Don't know if they will ever get a decent website, hopefully they will when they start doing regular research.
