This is an EXCELLENT talk until the bit about the Mediterranean diet. Even if we ignore that grains break the tight junctions between cells in our GI tract, bind nutrients before they can reach their appropriate receptors, and have strong links to disorders affecting every system in the body, the fact still remains that the fats consumed in a mediterranean diet are so heavy in n-6 that it does nothing to reverse the systemic inflammation seen in those who consume a Standard American Diet.

Good data coming from randomized trials seen as a factual error?!?

The verdict is still out on how much influence n-6 really has on systemic inflammation -- current data simply isn't robust enough. On the other hand, the data suggesting that insulin is near the top of the list of pro-inflammatory factors in our bodies is solid. Lowering carbohydrate intake -- as proposed by the Mediterranean diet -- is a sure-fire way to reduce systemic inflammation.

Wow Nancy Snyderman not knowing what in the hell she is talking about. Not like that doesn't happen every single time she opens her mouth.

Great information. We've been on the Mediterranean diet for several years, and have never felt deprived. It's good food!

While some of the stuff at the endtroubles me a bit in how black and white hes being about some of that data, I pretty much love everything this guy has to say. Can't wait to read his book.
