These are two orphan kittens that were born in our basement! They're both very, very sweet but may have FIV, the feline HIV virus. FIV is not dangerous to humans, but compromises cat's immune systems like HIV does to ours. However, our vet explained to us that the tests they have only determine if the kittens have antibodies for the FIV virus, not the actual disease itself.. but if we were to give them to the Humane Society, they'd be put to sleep even though they might be disease-free, just because they tested positive.
We won't know for sure until the kittens are 8 months ~ 1 year old. If they don't have FIV and only inherited the antibodies from their mom, then the antibodies will be gone by then. If they do have FIV, they might not even be sick, they might only be carriers. Still, they'll be able to live good lives if they're kept indoors, where they'll have less chances to get sick, and to spread FIV to other cats.
We're really hoping to find a loving home that will keep these little guys indoors. These kittens deserve a chance!
@anotherneko Will do! :) I'll be posting videos of them for as long as I have them, which, hopefully won't be too much longer because someone will adopt them!
