Educational film to teach viewers about the dynamics of propaganda, made in the in the late 1940's or early 1950's.

A teacher dissects the processes in which propaganda works to an eager student. In it are moments of classic hokum, but curiously it all rings true today.

Beware of Propaganda.

  • hahaha ending an "education" film about propaganda with propaganda at the end

  • The whole "interested young student" + "kind experienced teacher" is a propaganda technique to let the viewer identify with a more interested person, with the purpose of feeding young people this truth more easily.

  • I wish there was a film of the Master of Propaganda Dr. Joseph Goebbels giving an explanation on propaganda I'm sure that would have been x10 better.

  • The guy in the suit played the undertaker on the Andy Griffith Show. Just saying

  • @BluePhilDog Fool! You told everyone the depth of your government propaganda programing.

Whenever you get the urge, tell everyone how many times you can find the word "democracy" in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Article of Confederation. The answer is: 0.

Now, you government sucker, read Article 4, Section 4, US Constitution.

Then remember, you are one of billions of pieces of easily programed meat. And remember the NMW source is just more propaganda for suckers.

  • @jacobji5 Republic

Supreme power is held by democracy!

  • @lee3 Why the @#$% is that funny? Propaganda is a powerful tool. May as well use it to encourage people to stay educated and learn how to recognize it.

  • @MiaIris1 I don't think the definition is useful. Unless we're talking about irrational propaganda vs. rational propaganda. Commonly "propaganda" is used to refer to irrational propaganda. There's no use in calling rational propaganda, propaganda because it obscures the definition imo.

And obviously irrational propaganda appealing the the unconcious forces in people is a threat to the autonomi ie. freedom of the people subject to it.

  • @MiaIris1 "Doctrines" and "system of principles" are belief systems or ideologies, wich are usually made for manipulating and controlling the masses or groups of people by upper hierarchy. If you think that people need to be governed, then it's nothing negative about that.

  • Webster's 1913 Definition of propaganda (from Hyperdictionary's definition):

Paraphrased: Any organization or plan for spreading a particular doctrine or a system of principles.

When did this definition obtain a negative connotation?

  • nice. thanx for posting. These old "educational" films seem to have become an icon of propaganda, so this is rife with jarring irony?

  • Even though this video is propagandic at least they used to try and teach people about this stuff in the mainstream.
