The Kids of Widney High Channel (www.YouTube.com/ProfKlickberg) presents the Kids of Widney High talking about a screening of FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE at Tim Robbins' Actors Gang theater/Ivy Substation in January, 2011.
The event was put on by PBS' Independent Lens Series, and also involved the screening of the trailer for the Kids' own feature-length rockumentary, ACT YOUR AGE: THE KIDS OF WIDNEY HIGH STORY, which is now screening around the country.
The Kids performed live--though a few members couldn't make it--and also did some Q&A about both their film and FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE, talking about how the two films and groups vary.
FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE, for those who do not know, is a documentary about a group of adults with disabilities in a band from Florida called the Spirit of Goodwill Band. The film is currently playing throughout the festival circuit.
Other groups aside from the Spirit of Goodwill Band and the Kids that may interest you are: our friends How's Your News?, Albany's FLAME, punk band Heavy Load, Finland's Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät, Wesley Willis, Moondog, Daniel Johnston, Florence Foster Jenkins, T. Valentine, YOUNG@HEART, Langley Schools Music Project, Half Japanese/Jad Fair, Sister Gertrude Morgan, Jandek, and our good friend, the late-great Ormly Gumfudgin/Bazookastry.
