Here is a ride behind #11 of the Redwood Valley Railway in Berkeley, CA. It was taped as part of a model railroad layout tour at the National Model Railroad Association national convention in July 2000.

  • This one was really great. What gauge is it? It looks to be a 3 inch scale or so running on narrow gauge. Incredible layout those California guys have.

  • @formerparatrooper

15" gauge, 5" scale. See redwoodvalleyrailway com

  • I'd like to have seen a lineside shot of the loco - is it the one which visited England a few years back. e.g. Ravenglass?

  • I don't know much about that. You may need to contact the group at their web site.

  • yes this locomotive has visited england twice

  • Thanks for the updated info!

  • Great video, thank you!

  • Love this engine this my favorite out of all that are on the redwood valley. I also love the whistle, what kind of a whistle is it?

  • does anybody know a comp that builds these, I'm looking to put one in va

  • My favorite engine is no doubt the Fern #5 followed by Laurel #4, then Oak #7, then the Sequoia #11. They're all great engines, but I love the #5 the best.

  • I love the East Bay Regional Parks District (does anyone really have a clue what a *treasure* we have here? do we take them for granted?) and I love the steam train.

  • I just did a trip exactly like this today, I rode on the Redwood Valley Railway, then went to the Golden Gate Live Steamers for a ride, posted the videos to, VERY FUN!!!!!!!

  • If you want to see the 1st engine on the Redwood Valley's roster, go to the Folsom Valley Railway in Folsom, CA in July or August, after it's done with it's restoration.

  • She's a beauty, and I have ridden behind her 3 times.
