A Dobro is essentially a six-string guitar with a metal, usually aluminum soundboard, imbedded within the spruce wood top. It provides a resonating 'twang' sound and projects the string vibration from the body through vents cut in the aluminum. The strings are usually set high off of the fretboard so a slide can be used. Gibson Guitars owns the trademark.

Ah beautiful. Jenna Reid and Julie Fowlis were on tour in the U.S. earlier this year. I am amazed by the talent these young ladies possess. Jenna's incredible performance with the fiddle was awesome. She leaves a nice lasting impression, may she fare well in all that she does.
