Coming up on A Prairie Home Companion March 14, 2009

Garrison Keillor drives around Downtown Saint Paul, pointing out landmarks along the way. Also, he talks about what you can expect on the show this Saturday.

This week on A Prairie Home Companion, it's a joke show compilation with the now legendary "Buzz Off" competition between our sound- effects men Tom Keith and Fred Newman, Andy Stein's latest "Knock-Knock" song, and a slew of blonde jokes, lawyer jokes, Unitarian jokes, puns, groaners and one really good parrot joke (no penguins this time). Southern-fried humorist Roy Blount Jr. takes a break from that NPR show to chime in with a few jokes, Guy Noir tries to find love through a dating service, and Dusty lets the bad jokes fly — that is until Spike and Big Messer show up. Of course the rest of the gang is here too — The Royal Academy of Radio Actors to help keep the laughs coming; and The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band to keep the toes tappin'. And if you want to know what happened when the chicken slept under the car, you'll just have to tune in...

TERRIFIC. Thanks for posting this. In a way I was hoping Minnesota would look like, well, Lake Wobegon, but you have less snow than we do right now. I'm a NYC born, Jersey raised New Yorker, and when the hell is Keillor ever gonna come upstate New York!??? Jeez, he wrote a book that's located in Ithaca, come on up already.

From having only listened to you on the radio, except for one memorable show with Meryl Steep in MA on stage, I was very interested to see your enviorns in Minneapolis. I found this video as well as the inside of the Firzgerald Theatre and I am so pleased I did. I have always wanted to go see the show, I live in Ft. Lauderdale, but could not. This is the next best thng. Thank you so much.
