An aerial view of the archaeological site called Tel Hatzor. The archaeological remains are the largest and richest known in modern Israel. Hazor was an ancient city located in the Upper Galilee, north of the Sea of Galilee, in the Hula Valley. Excavations have discovered 21 archaeological strata of successive settlements, which range from the 29th century BCE to the Hellenistic period.
