this footage is the holy grail for all Monkee chronologists.......i think Rafelson/Nicholson/Schneider made a major mistake in deleting these scenes. The clips raise more QUESTIONS about the film than answers. I hope that the celluloid dropped on the editing floor is found again someday.......

This is the only trailer I've ever seen that's comprised almost exclusively of bits that were not in the movie. Its brilliant.

Yeah I guess it is a bit creepy. It sort of emphasizes the darkness that sort of hides under the surface in the film (as indeed, was present in most of their career). The fast paced editing and the way they use the dialog excerpts, along with the choice of shots (say, for instance, Mickey "drowning" during The Porpoise Song sequence) really adds to that effect. It's a shame the audience they were actually reaching for rejected Head without giving it a chance.

I remember watching the Monkees as a little kid, until my Dad would come home and change the channel to "Gunsmoke" or something like that!
