  • idiots, the ma bo (horse stance) is an exercise, not really a proper fighting stance. the horse stance is an endurance training, to strengthen the leg muscles. this is to help movement during training of martial arts, so your movements are more accurate and flowing. also to keep you legs grounded like roots to the floor, to prevent your opponent from sweeping you or knocking you down. furthermore develops enormous power to your legs and your kicks. this exercise also trains the mental mind.

  • Hung Gar is extremely effective.

"One of Wong Fei Hung's top students was Lam Sai Wing. Lam Tsai Wing was proficient in the Tiger/Crane system. In the early 1900's there was a famous incident involving Lam Tsai Wing being lured into the Lok Sin Theatre and then attacked. Outnumbered, Lam Sai Wing emerged without injury. Some reports state 80 people were injured in that fight."

  • For pseudo-experts who dont know horse stance is just as anyother stance in martial arts. Its used frequently in figting and it is very good and usefull:D The reason its so frequently used is that fighter can make a quick transition from horse stance to anyother fighting stance and back to horse stance. It was also used in middle ages in sword fights because the defender could easly block swings from the enemy.
