Vampire Dreams: Episode 1

I turned around before entering the building and gave one last pleading look to my mom. She gave me an apologetic smile but regardlessly nodded her head and drove off. I sighed and turned around to face the school. Ridgewood High. It was built alot differently compared to the schools back in Florida. That made me even more nervous.
I should probably explain myself. I'm 17 years old, 5"7' with semi-long brown, wavy curls. My name is Blake. Well, not really. My birth name is Haley, but I don't go by that anymore. I stopped using that name when my dad and my brother died. How'd it happen? Ask me again sometime. Well back in Florida my dad supported most of our living through his job. And with him gone it was pretty much impossible for me and my mom to survive through the income provided by her job as a teacher. So we moved to New Jersey where she could work as an accountant. And moving meant starting fresh and enrolling in a new school. Of course I didn't want to move and start fresh, and I absolutely hated being the new kid. Especially in a small town such as this...
I was pulled from my thoughts as I heard the first bell ring. I took a deep breath ignoring the kids surrounding me who were whispering and staring at me curiously, and walked through the big double doors and into the school.
I stared at my feet as I walked down the hallway, clutching my books to my chest. I felt like I was in a circus ring and everyone around me was staring at me as If I were a naked clown. It was torture. I finally reached my locker. Right side, top row, number 213. I sighed, quickly opened my locker and reached in my bag to transfer items into my locker. When I was done I zipped my bag and shut my locker. I turned around and gasped slightly and took a step backwards. Three boys, all Hispanic, who looked to be freshman were standing around me, blocking me from any possible exit. The tallest and darkest one smirked down at me and took a step closer to me. "Hey babe. Don't think I've seen you around here before. Newbie?" he asked. I held back a sneeze. He smelled bad. "Umm yea, I'm new, and just headed to my first class. So if you would excuse me.." I tried to move past him and his two pets but they wouldn't budge. "Aww, there aint no need for you to go to class," he said. "We can have all the fun we need right here", he conluded. The two other boys laughed and they all started moving close to me. I knew self defense but I didn't want to get in trouble for getting in a fight on my first day. Just as the big one was closing in on my face, someone came up behind him and pulled him off of me. "Hey! Who the hell do you think you-" he stopped to gape in fear at the boy who had just rescued me. I found myself in awe as well, but not fearful.
