  • How about cleaning the primer pocket? Do you bother with it, or not?

  • @wittzo I've only ever cleaned the primer pockets on precision rifle rounds, never on pistol ammo. Well, I shouldn't say never; when I increased my shooting from once every two weeks to two or three times a week, I stopped bothering with cleaning primer pockets, separating brass by headstamp, and some other stuff that I had liked to do.

  • @powerfactorshow tell me about it! when your loading lots of .45ACP it just isn't worth cleaning out every primer pocket. but I did get a Lyman Ultra-Sonic Cleaner and it really does work super good! No tumbling required Just do one rinse for a couple minutes then a run with solution then one with fresh water this all takes like 20-30 minutes and they're very clean and nice!

  • @MrByronodmon I'm intrigued by the new metal tumbling media. A guy showed me a couple of cases that he'd cleaned using this wet tumbling system - don't think it will work with a conventional vibratory "tumbler" - and the brass looked new. He'd punched the primers out before tumbling, and even the primer pockets were spotless. For someone new to reloading, who's buying all the gear for the first time, it might be the way to go. Changing to the new system would be too expensive for me.

  • Hello Rick and Steve, just wanted to say that I am really liking the reloading series. I just got my SDb in 9mm this week and am really pleased. Also I see a big diference in sound and video quality in this episode. Coming from some one who has watched from the first episode, thank you.

  • @flatbreadfb Thanks for the comment! we are always trying to improve the quality :)

  • Thanks for the reply. I think as long as the primer seats and the flashhole is clear, you're good to go. I've started putting dryer sheets in my tumbler to reduce the amount of dust my tumbler puts out. +1 on Harbor Freight tumbling media and NuFinish. :)

  • I mix corn and walnut together in one bucket, let it go for an hour then add new finish and let it go another hour.

  • @trottheblackdog Thanks! we love reloading and like to get into as much detail as we can.

  • AWESOME episode. I loved the closeup on the shell plate.
