Our 1978 Datsun B210 with 19,600 actual miles. (31,500km) It has been garaged it's entire life. It has never been winter driven, and has seldom seen rain... No smoking ever. This car is not restored, it has never had any paint work of any kind. The body and interior are almost perfect. The engine compartment has not been detailed. The car is kept in climate control and only driven a few times each year to car shows. It has an EPA-mpg rating of 28 city and 41 highway! It is powered by a 1.4 liter 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual transmission.

  • Although I would paint it a different colour, it's a nice looking car.

  • @Seattlecarnut Interesting comment about the finest surviving original Datsun B210. A "survivor" is something that hasn't been modified and displays in it's entirety an as-built representation of a specific item. No one in their right mind would change the color nor repaint a survivor of this caliber. In addition, color changes on Japanese autos are extremely difficult as the body color is found not only on the exterior, but inside the interior, inside the trunk, and everywhere under the hood.

  • I've always wanted one. Found an (you guessed it) old lady who owned one, brown, 2-door, outside a church beside the mcdonald's I bought my big mac from and was eating in my car. I went up to her and startled her, smiled and asked: 'i want your car.' She freaked out. Then I said: 'no, no, I wanna buy your car. How much?' She snarled and drove off.

Um...I have $2K and nothing more but I'll take good care of it cuz I always wanted one. Can you sell it to me for $2K Jim?

  • @101philosopha101 Considering I have had an 8K offer just this month, I'm sorry but this one stays with me for now. The nicest example of anything is never inexpensive. Thank you for watching.

  • Just to set the record straight, the "It happened in 1978" website was wrong and I failed to double-check them. Too late to re-script the entire video. So, once and for all... According to Wikipedia and several additional sources it was actually 1976 when the album Hotel California was released NOT 1978

  • I owned one of these cars for a few years. What a POS! I loved it! Living in snowy (and winter salt) northern NJ, the body literally disolved around me.

  • @itsmegp46 You are correct, same thing here in Indiana. The rust mites have taken 99.9% of them and returned them to basic elements. This is the simple reason why I own the nicest one left on earth.

  • @jims59DOTcom You are absolutely right because "The Long Run" came out in 78 or 79 I remember rockin that when I was stationed in Panama in 1979!

  • My mom had one of these cars, I'll never forgot the hubcaps, i was 2.

  • My parents had the same car but an automatic with an AM radio (they later mounted an FM converter under the glovebox which was a big-to-do at the time...wow, FM radio!). They had it 9 years until the head gasket went and the engine seized. This car didn't like going up hills, but lots of good memories seeing this vid.

  • I've never been a huge fan of muscle cars, unless you need that muscle to tow a travel trailer. I've always liked original unrestored cars, that haven't been modified in any way other than the usual maintenance.

  • My father had one of these in Edmonton Alberta. When he was posted to CFB Downsview in Toronto we DROVE across Canada in it. My father, my step mother, my brother, me and our samoyed. And if that wasn't enough, my father was towing a trailer with two motorcycles and our bicycles.

  • Lol when was the last time I saw one of those? I own one! mines a '76 owned by my great grandma until a couple years ago, about 52000 miles

  • @jims59DOTcom Yeah, you're right. It's a nice looking car, why change it?

  • I had a 1978 b210 exactly like that. I bought it from a junkyard and put probably 40k miles on it. I don't know the speedometer broke, aside from that I only had to replace the clutch. It was a tank. I accidentally rear ended my friend at 30mph and it was absolutely fine. these and the 280z have shock absorbers in the bumpers. I would ram buildings, polls, shopping carts. played shopping cart round-up. did things... in it. 45mpg rally car!... and I hit a deer at 65mph. $200 later it was fine.
