Business needs to outsource in order to be competetive. If they are not outsourcing and their competitors are, then the entire business is going to be in trouble and many more could lose their jobs...

Blame the gov. and their lack of understanding of staying current w/ economical situations...

When unemployment was low in Silicon Valley there were more jobs than engineers so H1Bs were needed. Presently with over 12% unemployment in California H1Bs are a crime. I'm lucky to have a job making a 1/3 of what I used to make and many of my former colleagues have been unemployed for more than a year. Meanwhile half the people I work with are H1Bs. When unemployment is back below 7% maybe then H1Bs can come in again.

"I doubt that many of these jobs are ones that there are qualified Americans to fill who want the job and are applying."

One should note that MalyBaran, according to his own profile, is from the Czech Republic. His opinions about how the American job market is functioning are not those of somebody who is around to see it in action.

This is the same process for Americans to get work visa in many other countries. The work office in other countries "posts an ad" for the job but the company already wants to hire the American they have selected. After a set period of time the American is allowed to receive the work contract.

I doubt that many of these jobs are ones that there are qualified Americans to fill who want the job and are applying.

Wrong H-1B is white collar jobs Computer programming, nursing, Engineering, Architecture...you are talking about H-2B. A recent study shows that if everyone working currently on H-1B Visa were sent home we would be at full employment in white collar jobs.

See the 1 October 2009 Business Week cover story, "High Tech Sweatshops." The story provides useful information, but pretty much neglects how experienced American citizen technical professionals such as myself are harmed by this abusive system that pits the American middle class against the world's poor. See my 2007 article "The Greedy Gates Immigration Gambit" for more details. As of 1 October 2009, there are 360,574 views.

You sir are a disgrace period. They not only shaft plenty of American workers using deceptive methods (fake ad's..how disgusting) but pay immigrants less then what there worth. A lose lose except for everyone in upper management.

Clearly you didn't think this one through did you.
