  • @Bear7o7 tama for metal / hard rock playing, pearl for softer playing

    i prefer tama

  • all a customs are shit apart from the crashes

  • very nice guy ;)

  • tama, pearl, sonor or yamaha???

  • @Bear7o7 depends on what you want to play, Pearl is more versatile for any kind of music

  • @Seffyr Ah I see. Thinking about it that Planet Z c/r was probably the only one of those in existence to sound good. Sorry for the attitude earlier on. =)

  • @Gretchluver1 Ew really? You like Planet Z C/R's? I can't stand them. I've tried the new series and some of the vintage ones (The ones that didn't have stamped dimples) and didn't like either; although admittedly I liked the older style better. Twas darker. And I mean "obsolete" as in C/R's are only in beginner lines. If you want something that functions as both in higher up lines you have to get a thin - medium 18" ride.

PS: In hindsight my reply sounded offensive. Bad day. Sorry. =)

  • @Gretchluver1 N.B. The "one" with regards to Elvin was referring to a crash ride. Obviously. Also could you elaborate on "obsolete"? Do you mean a brand or model of cymbal no longer in production or a cymbal that no longer physically exists?

  • @Seffyr With regards to beginners crash rides the Planet Z ones are the more bearable, but thankfully I have a Bosphorus crash ride which works well as a medium crash and as a second ride (not a main ride of course, although Elvin Jones did just fine with one). Also I want to clarify that I'm not insisting on you playing crash rides only. Why would I do that? I was just making a reactionary misinformed comeback to a reactionary misinformed comment.

  • @bnl11052k10 I play in a contemporary worship band, and it's really in the air. If you have large, packed venues of, say, 500 upwards, I'd say go for something brilliant. Bright cymbals cut amazingly through amped instruments.

    Smaller venues? Go darker.

Really, though? Experiment. Best way is to find out yourself. Borrow some cymbals from someone and see how the rest of the band like them.
