Emergency Procedures in Case of Gremlin Attack

Emergency procedures are an important aspect of any pilots' training and preparation is the key to dealing with any eventuality. Although not covered in the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) or the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), Gremlin attacks are especially insidious. These attacks can be characterized by loud banging noises and parts falling off the aircraft during flight. In some cases spark plugs and propellers have been known to come off. Many movies and television shows such as the Twilight Zone have recounted Gremlin encounters and their effects on aircraft inflight. This short informational video narrated by Bugs Bunny documents an inflight Gremlin attack on a weight shift aircraft and the proper approach to deal with the situation. While one's first instinct is to panic with the loss of an engine, it is important to remember that a weight shift aircraft owes it heritage to hang gliders and without and engine reverts back to its ancestral state. Thankyou for the comment. Many pilots fear engine out situations, but there is nothing to be concerned about. Aircraft do not fall out of the sky when the engine is off and gliding down is part of the training.
