@BeckiiBoo24 Totally! my dog used to eat the lawn grass all the time, usually the longer blades near a wall or tree (where the lawn mower couldn't reach). I think wheat grass is a little more nutritious!
Cats are a little more gentle, it may be a good idea to use soil in the wheatgrass berries for a dog, they might tear out all the grass if there is nothing holding it down.

@AT5W Variety is the spice of life!!! While good pet foods hit most essential nutrition for our furry friends, eating the same thing everyday is not only boring, may attribute to a lack of trace nutrients that is not otherwise available.
Just as it is good for humans, wheatgrass provides vitamins and nutrients in small but concentrated quantities. Just the fact that the cats crave it says that there is something to be desired in it, if anything it is a nice distraction for a minute or so...

@Keelyman1 you can find them in the specialty market's bulk bins. Whole foods, Metropolitan Market. Places like Safeway, Fred Meyer don't carry it.

where do you get the wheat berries
will any type of wheat berries work? i like in the uk so im going to get some online, but there seams to be a few different types

@ecoannigrin Yep! Any type of whole and untoasted wheat berry! Even in the UK I would imagine you have this sort of item, it would be essential in any type of healthy "sprouted wheat" bread, or even grinding your own flour.
Try looking around in health food stores, typically it would be found in the bulk bins, but you may find it pre-packaged near whole food type dry items: packaged dry beans, bulger wheat, quinoa, cous cous...etc.

@Leon14000 Yes, sounds like you have stagnated water, you need to keep your water fresh and rinse out your seeds water more often, up to every few hours if necessary. You are basically seeing the starch leach out of your seeds; if you leave it stagnated, mold and other bacterias will take over the water.
