crab gear aren't used on commercial transports due to their mechanical complexity. It is much easier from a mechanical and regulatory standpoint to switch out a tire than it is to repair the major LG systems. As for safety, most large transports are designed with a triangular LG, which is much more stable than the B-52 inline setup. In order to land, the B-52 requires two extra systems compared to a 747: crab gear and training wheels. The extra failure modes are not worth it.
