She's got a point. I don't know what other news station organizes and promotes anti-government protests... not when a republican president gives billions in bailout money, but when a democrat president does it. Seems a bit fishy. And why do they crop Obama's statements to make it seem like he's saying the opposite of what he's trying to say and then chide him for it?

I've heard from the people who live in the region. The overwhelming majority wanted drilling to resume. The regional industries depend heavily on the oil revenues from these wells.

I have heard how the oil spill will wreak havoc on the delicate ecosystem of the Gulf. It hasn't, actually, but the claims that it ultimately will haven't stopped. In fact, there is difficulty in finding evidence of the spill, as marine life seems to be eating up the oil.

Thus "overhyped". And no, I don't.

@DrCruel Go to the Gulf Coast and talk to the people who live off the fishing industry. Are you out of your mind? "Overhyped?" It's the worst oil spill in our history. Certainly, one of the worst man-made disasters in our history. You don't work for BP, do you?

Money over humanity, I suppose.

@demmmmm1 ( ... I haven't seen much of her stuff, mind, but of what I've seen this is an easy task ... for example, she makes a "fake speech" for Obama about the BP spill where she claims:

1) The well can't be capped

2) The environment was "savaged"

3) Deep water drilling should be banned

The well was capped, and in the 90 day timeframe put out by BP. Environmental damage was minimal and overhyped. And banning deep water drilling because of one failed well is idiotic.

@demmmmm1 Actually I don't have to imagine Rachel Maddow calling for censorship of a rival news organization. All I have to do is press "play".

In any event, I suspect we are speaking about two different people, as the Rachel Maddow I've seen most certainly does not "stick to the facts". Glenn Beck might go on curious tangents from time to time, but he's nothing like Michael Savage and certainly not nearly as bad as Mike Malloy or Maddow.

I guess now I know why such people are so popular.

@DrCruel I was being hyperbolic. Anyway...let me put it this way about Beck. Maddow is about as liberal as it gets. Her opinion is quite clear on most things. Hers is an opinion show like Beck's, Hannity's, etc.  The difference is that Glenn Beck lies all the time. And, he's a conspiracy-theory peddler. Imagine Rachel Maddow calling John Boehner a marxist or a fascist or Hitler or a racist, or 'he's gonna get you." She tends to stick to the facts and gives her unbridled opinion on them.

@demmmmm1 Honestly, I couldn't care less what you will or will not allow. In any event, I mentioned Ted Koppel, not Tom Brokaw - both of whom came from an earlier, more honorable era of American journalism.

If I were going to make such a comparison, someone like Dan Rather or Peter Arnett would come to mind.

In any event, I'm not going to defend Glenn Beck - but it is rich to hear someone like Maddow complain about him, or propose censorship as a legitimate counter for her competition.
