Central Avenue Fire in Fort Dodge, Iowa • www.messengernews.net

A passerby reported smoke at The Pond building at the 1100 block of Central Avenue in Fort Dodge at about 8 a.m. Within minutes billows of smoke obscured views of Central Avenue. Half a dozen police officers and 3 fire trucks were at the scene within minutes. Paramedics and police said there were reports that no one was inside the building. Firefighters, who are still at the scene, beat back visible flames on the back side of the building.
