Barcelona 1992 Opening Ceremony - Olympic Flame - Lightning of the Cauldron

The torch is carried inside by Herminio Menendez, former spanish sprint canoer, Silver medallist at Montreal 1976 and Moscow 1980. Then he hands it over to Juan Antonio San Epifanio ''Epi'', famous basket player, silver medallist with the spanish basketball team at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He runs to the main stage and passes the flame to Antonio Rebollo, paralympic athlete, who shoots a flaming arrow towards the cauldron and lights it, symbolizing the start of the Olympic Games

This is by far the BEST Olympic flame lighting ceremony ever! Totally, absolutely amazing and unrivaled. :-)

Antonio Rebollo deliberately overshot the cauldron and did not light the Olympic flame with the arrow. This was done by a Reyes Abades technician via remote control in all rehearsals and the ceremony itself according to the official report for the 1992 Olympics.

@siritish Yes if you watch at 4:57-4:58 and pause the video you can see the flame did go over the cauldron but our eyes aren't quick enough to tell that at the time it happened so it was tremendous. Kind of like trick photography but a wonderful effect!
