dead on... all samplers have their own sound. for example... on madvillainy, you can tell a 303 was used. anyone who thinks otherwise clearly hasnt had hands on experience using any of these machines... they probably use software sampling, or dont sample at all.

sorry, but also the samplers sound differnet one each other. akai mpc 1000 sound different from boss sp-303 wich sound different from korg es1 wich sound different from akai mpc 500 wich sound different from akai mpc 2000xl...also in the same label you find different sounds...

yes, they sound different. i have bought. if you can see i've got a video on youtube with them. it depends on ac/dc converters. the sp-303 is a little bit more gritty than sp-404 wich is more "nicely".

its a sampler, come on guys. one doesnt sound different than the other. its a sampler.
