Oh come on. Don't fucking politicize it. It happened because the guy was a fucking psychopath. If he had stabbed her, would you want to ban knives? Of course not. Guns are just a dumb talking point. Lets ban cars and alcohol because it gives people easy access to drunk driving, the number one cause of accidents every year. People do it because they're idiots and/or they don't care. If you're going to kill someone, on purpose or by accident, it doesn't matter what's illegal or available.

@kbv206 the background check and waiting period is different in each state, which is who regulates that to a certain extent. Where i live a person can buy a gun with certain misdemeanors and if they have assault on their record, as long as its not with a deadly weapon. However i do not feel very safe about that one. We had a policy that stated "if you dont feel right selling a gun to someone, you should refuse." and if there was a questionable buyer, it would be held and investigated.

@Dethsing Interesting. So in your opinion, what kind of policies should a gun vendor implement in order to better screen gun buyers? Do you think the background check is enough and what records do they check?
-
@kbv206 And i am seeing your point as well, to the children bringing guns to school, that is partly the parents fault, if you own a firearm you should invest in a safe or some sort of way to keep them locked up. I worked at a sporting goods store and unfortunately people would try to buy guns that they are not legally allowed to own, in that case the operator would tell us to stay on the line and the police would be dispatched and arrest them for lying on the paperwork.

@Dethsing I completely understand your point and yes, stricter gun control laws probably would not affect persistent criminals who are bent on obtaining firearms. Still, we have a duty to try to limit. Two points. First, my concern is that some of these children who are bringing guns into schools are not necessarily the children of criminal parents. Second, I think with a more robust screening process, we can still weed out some of these criminals or mentally unstable people from obtaining guns.

@kbv206 im not saying that at all, i just stating that making stricter gun laws would have no effect on criminals, just honest people. because an honest person is not going to buy a gun illegally off the black market or a shady street dealer, they are going to a gun store filling out a background check and in some cases going through a waiting period, whereas a criminal cant do that and only the dumb ones try, they will buy them illegally where the laws have no effect on them whatsoever.
-
@Dethsing Until your kid gets your stored gun and uses it. The whole "if they have them," "we should too..." argument is not a good one.

Ban liberalism, leave my guns alone

*shrugs* dont see how she is worse then the other people in US politics :P
Having stricter gun laws would not have prevented this crime from taking place. Crazy mother fuckers like this Jared guy can get their hands on a gun regardless of the laws.

sooo what im sensing here is....make guns harder to access for honest law abiding citizens like me but that will have absolutely no affect on if a drug crazed bank robber has a fully automatic ak47? which btw is already being regulated, you have to have a class 3 firearms license in most states, but look how many people have them illegally. Laws only keep honest men honest. they have little to no affect on people that "need" drugs or other illegal substances.
