I sang this piece at the intermission of a concert performed by Faith Choral Society. I think it went well, but I will take constructive criticism. Thanks to my talented accompanist P. Van Putten.
I tried to focus on enunciation, since I think too few singers do, and songs mean more when you understand them.
This aria was originally from the oratorio/opera Joshua by George Handel. In Genesis, Jubal is referred to as the father of makers of musical instruments.
Lyrics:
Oh, had I Jubal's lyre or Miriam's tuneful voice! To sounds like his I would aspire, in songs like hers rejoice. My humble strains but faintly show how much to heaven and thee I owe.
