  • @harrytheaker Doric has similar roots to Germanic Language just as english has' but that's where the similarities end as both Languages separated and took different paths' when english standardized their language they absorbed lots of Scots words into their tongue ie' Burn(small stream) etc.

In your Ideal world Harry one would like things to be perfect and everyone learn only english history, culture and Ideals' but Scots and english are two very different peoples!

  • pmsl luvin it afa gweed xx

  • @helen1434 Aye' the teachers always said to me Speak Proper! And when i was a wee bairn i couldnt understand why i was being descriminated when English kids spoke different slangs but were never told to speak proper! Yet I was told i was talking English slang!

I didnt mind learning English at school' but i resented the enforcement against my native tongue even in the corridors' it made me feel lnferier to a degree which in turn made me rebel' While other bairns just got on with it!

  • a ken i used to get a row at school for speaking Doric id go nuts and resent it they say Speak English id say bit im nae English am Scottish. and your welcome

I think Doric Scots has had a very bad deal over the years with the systematic enforcement of English!

    Cheers fur yer comment Helen!
