  • This hymn was not designed for the organ it was written for a guitar and praise band, however it can be transposed and arranged for a full church choir with descant and organ

  • @azariah1969 There you go! Sometimes we hear it different in our individual parish. We use whatever resources we have available.

  • Rock music is in appropriate for Catholic worship of any sort.

  • It is not rock music. It is a choral music with a pop arrangement.

  • Yuk! Where's the ORGAN??? The ORGAN is the only appropriate accompaniment to church music! Gee!

  • I am an organist, my mother was an organist, I was in organ business and I played organ in the church for many years, I even played in Rome. But organ industry is dead now. No more organ manufacturers, the technicians changed their jobs already, analog instruments are obsolete, broken organ cannot be fixed and no music student wants to learn organ. It is like a typewriter which was replaced by computer.

  • I came up through the school ranks via Catholic schools and I agree that this is by no means an organ arrangement but rather a fold choir type. I always loved this hymn and still do. However, I do pity that it takes a rock and roll type of culture to get today's generation into God's door. On a positive note, this is a great hymn and the choir nailed it. Thanks for the post!

  • Can you tell me where in the Bible does it say that we can only praise the Lord with the organ? Have a look at the Psalms, which by the way we use every day in Mass. PSALM 149, 1-3 and many more. If the Church bases it's Liturgical music on biblical foundation, then this cannot be more clear.

  • @ryudragon7 Same here, I'm crying right now and I'm even a guy but just super sensitive.

  • I don't think that rock or pop music is "inapropriate" for the mass, I just dont care for it, its not my cup of tea. I think the guitar mass tops it all off, without all the synthesizer sounding stuff, but that just me. If it makes your worship meaningful, then go for it.

  • @artsaran Sorry Art, but you kind of have that backwards - it's sacro-pop with a choral arrangement.

    BMP

  • is this church under construction?

  • This type music in church is not my cup of tea.

  • @artsaran I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! Great Job!!!!!! Our Catholic church does this too! I would worship with your church any time! Bless you!
