Of course that's precisely what Jerry is saying, isn't it? -- "I'm fucked up, will you please help me!" ... That's the whole point of his involvement in the MDA telethons -- to compensate for his sick need for infantile attention.

When Jerry sings this stupid song, he insults the intelligence of anyone with an IQ over 5.

He usually prefaces the song with abrupt, condescending remarks to the stagehands -- the lighting is not right, the sound is off. Indeed, his narcissistic, phony sincerity is to be taken with the utmost seriousness!

If you search here on YouTube - "martin short jerry lewis french genius" - you'll see Martin Short parody Jerry Lewis' phony sincerity -- complete with insults to "his people."

I really wish all of his movies from 1957 to 1981 would be on blu-ray, restored and remastered for the very first time so that I can enjoy them ever.

Next to the Three Stooges, he's an icon in his own right.

This song means so much more to me now..My youngest son was diagnosed with a form of muscular dystrophy 4 years ago. I would LOVE to meet Mr. Lewis, and am heartbroken that he is stepping down. Thank you Mr. Lewis, for all you have done. They have a pretty promising drug that might help kids with my son's type of md, and it is ALL because you cared to start raising money. God Bless!
