At the "Happy Birthday John!" concert in NYC at the Society for Ethical Culture, the first half ended with Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Tom Chapin, Neil Innes, Mark Hudson, Garland Jeffreys, Never Shout Never, Glen Burtnik, Marshall Crenshaw, The Rivertown Kids, and others performing "Give Peace a Chance" with some...unusual...lyrics. :) That's Mark Hudson taking the lyrics in this video.

Fantastic show, by the way!

  • No problem, bluesie--I was excited to meet Garland after the show, mostly because I'd not heard of him before. He did a great job with "Help", and he was very gracious after the show. Really nice guy!

  • Sorry, aquarian, that's it. I wish I had thought to record more of the concert, but I was having too much fun just watching. :)

  • Sadly, I didn't get Never Shout Never on video, but I did take about 10 photos of him. It was a great performance of one of my favorite John songs.

asovlva, I agree that war, as usual, seems to be in vogue. Hopefully John and Yoko's War is Over message will make some headway soon.

  • This is fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing. You can just feel the positive and loving energy in this video. I have been searching for more footage of the concert, too, and found Help from Garland Jeffreys - if aquarian is still looking for more, I think you can go to GarlandJeffreysAdmin and you'll find it. I'm a huge Garland Jeffreys fan and was so happy to see this great video from walliebaby! Thanks, again!

  • I was there too and it was an amazing evening! Do you have more video to post? Would love to see more! Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you for posting this. I was there too, and it was such a beautiful night! such a positive tribute to a great man. Did you happen to get Never shout Never's performance of ACROSS THE UNIVERSE?

  • I agree, but still people all over the world care more for war. Sigh. Nice performance!
