"I've abandoned my child!" Real Guys Movie Review duo AJ Benza and Neal Gumpel breakdown "There Will Be Blood", the Paul Thomas Anderson Academy nominated film. Benza and Gumpel agree to disagree on a variety of subjects including the film's ending, its Oscar worth and the necessity for Dirk Diggler dropping his pants for all to see at the end of "Boogie Nights."

Created by and starring AJ Benza and Neal Gumpel.

  • Just rewatched this amazing film. Hardly being "zeitgeisty" here - most comments are over 2 yrs old - but I must say that this feature is perhaps the best film of the last decade. Any film that can stand up to legitimate comparisons with the likes of Citizen Kane and All The Kings Men is certainly worrthy of "All Time Classic" status in my oppinion. I just cant fault any of it - direction, cinematography, acting, score, editing - and what you cant buy - trancendant movie magic. Top 5 4 sure!

  • Maybe you two need to read a few philosophy books and watch the movie again. There are some much deeper concepts than just "money is evil, religion is evil"

  • Fuck these guys, the ending was to be expected, but without it, the movie wouldn't have been complete.

  • There Will Be Blood is one of the few movies that has a PERFECT ending.

    I'm Finished.

  • The ending was entertaining. You two dumbasses can't normally review the great film and you can't see the point of ending. Jerks.

  • ***SPOILERS***

I enjoyed the ending, I didn't care for the scene where his son comes and tells him he's starting his own business though. And I didn't care for the very end but I did enjoy the part where he confronts Eli and is mocking him and chasing him around. I know you talked about it in the review but what was it that you did not like in the ending? How would you have ended it?

  • Instead of saying, "My writing partner". Why not, "My partner, and no, I don't suck dick, I write with him"?

  • I think they're reading too much into the themes. If you look at it from just the perspective of Lewis's character going crazy, then it's an amazing film. (how did it get an R rating btw? both the profanity and violence were fit for tv. I don't get it.)

  • @KyussCrickit001 I left the theater watching slum dog It got to be so obvious! DDL was awesome throughout the whole movie!

  • The great thing about this movie for me was that while the movie was incredible already and I was thoroughly blown away, the full impact only really hit me after the movie when I kept thinking about every scene. It lingered for days. And no other movie has ever been able to do that for me. Amazing. Masterpiece. Deserved an Oscar for best film but so did No Country For Old Men. :)
