The reason for the financial fiasco is the attempts by politicians to increase home ownership by using the Federal Reserve, Fannie-Mae, Freddie-Mac, the FHA and the CRA to make the financially unsound loans that led to the out of control speculation that eventually broke down.
If you disagree please explain why banks would make loans to people who were likely to be unable to pay them back.
In fact McCain tried to reign in the unsound practices a few years ago.
Look it up.
