In July 1967 People began to riot after the police attempted to arrest all 83 blacks at a bar. Fueled by police brutality, the riot spread throughout the city. The riot lasted 5 days and is one of the most deadly in American history.

43 people died, 7,231 people were arrested. 6,407 of those were black. Hundreds of people were left hurt, without a home. Even today Detroit is not fully recovered from the damage.
