@nickah79 True words. I watched a couple videos after making my last comment. One was of her and her late sister Dee Dee together in church in Newark. The next was of her and Aretha together singing I say a little prayer for you. I was impressed, she held her own with Aretha, who is a powerhouse. And she blew the church roof off!!

Dionne has had her moments of reaching an unexpected range. I think that's what makes her a more unique performer. She works hard at singing. She tries hard. When you can't take a vocalists performances for granted, then I think you've got gifted talent in front of you.

When I was a kid I used to love Solid Gold. My family who is from East Orange/Newark NJ were so proud. She is elegant, classy, and at the same time down to earth. I have to say as a kid her style was too mature. But now that I'm older I know this is a first rate singer. She knows how to take a song and make it hers. And knowing the history of her family it's no surprise. I can see how much she influenced her cousin Whitney's stage presence and poise in the beginning of her career.
" I still can show you who you are..." Now, that's a powerful lyric sung by one of the most unique voices we've ever heard. And, may I point out that Ms. D sang this live while sitting on a stool...with her gams crossed...and she included an alternate ending and STILL didn't break a sweat. That's what I call sanging!

No doubt, Dionne Warwick, is one of the best voices and performers in world history. I truly believe she is the most diversified amd dynamic female singers of all time, and tha'ts no doubt saying a lot, because there are several out there, including Cher, Tina Turner, Mariah Carey, and the list goes on. I think Dionne has all bases covered and is the most elegant and classic of all. Just my opinion.
