This is a well broke horse up until about a week ago when he started this. This IS a pain issue and that is what I am wanting help with. He was turned out in the arena just for videoing purposes, and has not been allowed to do that since. I would like some help in finding his pain issue, if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. Any training comments, please keep to yourself at this point. Thanks.

  • Polysuratic Storage Myopothy (PSSM). From the way I understand it, the disease is kind of like diabetes except it affects the muscles not the organs. You have to change the diet and take out all green grass out of the equation. I never got him fixed, tried for almost 4 years. Finally traded him off WITH full disclosure of all his issues. He is in Florida now, poor guy has been through 5 homes since I got rid of him about 2 years ago. :(

  • Ummm....he is a gelding, but thank you!

  • by the way he's a beautiful boy and you can tell he respects the handler, he didn't run her over and was respectful even as the handler cinched him up. What a good horse :)

  • Yes, he should be fine. I will know more about his withers next week. But the PSSM is manageable with a change in diet and exercise. I will post more about his withers after his appointment next week. Thanks for the nice words!

  • Found out that he has PSSM and a fractured vertebra in his withers. Thanks everyone that tried to help!
