I think it's more art than ego. But it can set up a strange situation between a jealous hearted groom and his friends, if the bride did create a cake of herself. When they start carving into the cake - to see who gets or wants what part and the grooms reaction. LOL
I have no connection with the bride and don't know her in any way. just pictures off the internet.
