Class Descriptions
Adult Boxing Beginners $7 Class Every Wed from 5:30-6:15 pm are for those people making their first step into Boxing & to see if you enjoy the sport. The beginner class is non contact and is there for anyone who has never done boxing before. There is no need to have any experience. Just show up and start from scratch. If you need a break just stop, take a breather and come back when you want. Boxing This is a Boxing class. All participants will be taught from the ground up stance, footwork, punches, blocks, evading / head movement, combinations and strategies. Participants will use heavy bags, double-end bags, slip bags, speed bags, pad training, partner pairing drills and more. A heavy emphasis is placed on conditioning drills used to train fighters. Our aim is to help you attain a fighters physique and stamina. Muay Thai - Participants will learn to punch, elbow, clinch, knee, and kick. This workout focuses on the basics of Muay Thai. It combines high intensity training drills, calisthenics, Thai pad drills, and working on heavy bags. The workout is fun, safe, challenging and accommodates all levels of fitness. Jiu-Jitsu - This class focuses on learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Participants practice various techniques and will learn and practice break falls, escapes, positioning, leverage and opening the guard and how to effectively control and escape from all the basic positions. Participants will also learn submission holds and the proper application of the various techniques. Speed and Agility - S & A training is aimed at developing fundamental motor abilities to enhance the capability of participants to be more skillful at faster speeds and with more precision. Open Gym This is when you are welcome to use the gym and equipment on your own. You must be a paid member. Sparring With approval, you may choose to come to sparring sessions. Sparring is always controlled and supervised by a Coach. Sparring is not fighting. Safety gear is mandatory. Sparring is done during Open Gym Times. Youth MMA - Help your child prepare to deal with life's challenges in a more positive way. MMA training is ten times more effective than traditional team sports, in terms of building confidence and self-esteem. Mixed Martial Arts, is the fastest-growing and most popular form of Matial Arts being taught today. Why? BECAUSE IT WORKS! Your child will learn: * How to properly throw punches and kicks * Correctly execute elbow and knee strikes * Perform wrestling take downs and defense * No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu and submissions (made popular by the UFC and Pride organizations) MMA is the most functional form of self-defense available. Instead of spending money on uniforms and having your child memorize choreographed movements, why not have them learn effective responses to real-life situations?! Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you handle it. Overall fitness, balance, coordination as well as motor skills will improve with MMA training. Classes at Big House are taught in a friendly, yet structured and challenging environment, where respect, discipline, integrity, team work, focus, self-control and leadership will be practiced by instructors and expected from students.
