The Montreal Canadiens spoiled the Buffalo Sabres 40th anniversary celebration with a 2-1 win in regulation time. Goals for the Habs came from Picard and Gorges, both of which were in the 2nd period. The Sabres pulled within one in the third period, but it proved to be too little too late as Montreal held on for the two points. Carey Price had another solid showing, stopping 22 of 23 shots as the team improved to 2-1-1 on the season.
