This very impressive national park is located in Croatia between the Krka river and central Dalmatia. It includes an area of about 109 square kilometres. The park is famous for its waterfall. It's the area, in which parts of the German/European "Winnetou"- films after the novelist Karl May were produced.
The area contains about 860 plant species and 220 animal species. This is a high biodiversity. Many reptiles and fish-species live there, some of the fishes are endemic. In the area one of the biggest bat-colonies Europe-wide can be found.
Krka is of importance for the bird migration in spring and autumn.
