No one can do it like Earl.

Love Earl's facial expression at 1:28:13. He knows he rocks.

@supersaiyanjesus Yes, there are a few top groups playing today on non-mainstream media, but in my biased view they are ones that pretty much avoid rock influence. However, as Earl Scruggs demonstrates here, he put forth something above and beyond the offerings of all of the other excellent banjo players that have followed since, and this fact transcends any simple consideration of reputation.

Indeed, Charlie, this is bluegrass at it's best when the song is a sacred song.

Have no idea about the technicalities of the banjo or the dobro, but praise the Lord these guys can play them!

does anyone know the history of the dobro?
I wish all the modern so-called Resophonic players will notice that a Dobro can be played without a capo on songs in A & B etc. Most modern players only know to play some senseless scale that never even hints at the melody. Thank you Uncle Josh for playing it like you did.

Was introduced to this song from a band I used be in mid '70's. Getting a charge out of the hand claps fizzling out around :38. Doesn't take away from Uncle Josh though. THAT'S Dobro done right.
