On January 17, 2009, Conservation Northwest teamed up with the Olympic National Park, WA Department of Fish and Wildlife, USFWS, and USGS to release 5 pacific fishers into the old-growth forests of the Olympic National Park. Fishers, a relative of the mink, were trapped to extinction in Washington, and have been missing from our forests for the last seventy years. Over the next few years we are returning 100 fishers to the wild Olympics.
There are many predators that can take on cats including coyotes. That's why you should always keep your cats in.
And that's why these fishers are being released in the Olympic National Park, as conservation area with a lot of uninhabited acreas.

That's why you should always keep your cats in and why the fishers are being released in the Olympic National Park as opposed to populated areas. The only "pussies" they will run into should be cougars!

It makes me happy to know that we're trying to help these animals have a fresh start!
