@KCALism magic and spells because little kids are into that....plus, in fairy tales, magic is usually associated with faity tales, so it makes sense that all the evil villains would use black magic as it makes them seem more evil. There is also good magic, however, like the fairy godmother and in Aladdin, Jafarr is based off a sorcerer, which is considered evil and of the egyptian/Aladdin culture. :)
