On June 25, 2011 sixty-five people joined River Runners, a whitewater rafting company in Buena Vista, Colorado, for a fun filled day of whitewater rafting in Browns Canyon. On this particular day 304 people rafted the Arkansas River in Buena Vista, Colorado and Canon City, Colorado with River Runners alone. Year to date River Runners has taken over 5,000 people whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River. River Runners has been providing fully guided whitewater rafting trips since 1972.
Riverside Rafting Resort Buena Vista, Colorado
This fun filled day of whitewater rafting started at River Runners Riverside Rafting resort in Buena Vista, Colorado. Here guests were welcomed as they checked in. After the formalities and signing of waivers our rafting guests were outfitted in the latest in rafting gear. Helmets and Personal flotation devices are provided on all white water rafting trips in Colorado. Care and attention to detail is taken to fit this safety equipment properly.

Proper whitewater rafting Gear
Once outfitted the proper rafting gear these rafting guests are ready to participate in a safety orientation on River Runners private beach. This is very unique. River Runners Riverside Rafting Resort is located right on the banks of the Arkansas River. Rafting guest may just walk to their rafts meet their guides and go whitewater rafting with no shuttle to the put in.
Once on the Arkansas River guests have plenty of time to learn how to work together paddling their rafts and working with their river guide before the bigger rapids.
Zoom Flume Rapid
One a few miles into Browns Canyon the river begins to roar. And a huge granite wall towers above. It's Zoom Flume Rapid. This rapid is one of the longest and most fun whitewater rapids in Colorado. Zoom Flume is a class III-IV rapid depending on the river flow levels. At Zoom Flume a professional photographer is stationed to take photographs of each rafting trip that goes through Browns Canyon.
After successfully rafting Zoom Flume the rafts stop to grab the digital photos and watch a few more rafts go through the rapids. Watching whitewater rafting is almost as fun as whitewater rafting itself.
Delicious Riverside Lunch
A few more miles and a few more rapids and it is time to stop for lunch. The river guides tie the rafts and begin to prepare lunch. Enjoy an appetizer to start. Corn chips and homemade salsa is put out in a spread while the raft guides prepare lunch. Lunch is a deli style buffet with fresh vegetables and cold drinks.

Rafting Siedel's Suckhole
After lunch raft through a few more whitewater rapids where everyone gets soaked. Then pull over to the side of the river and hike up to scout Siedel's Suckhole. Siedel's is a class Iv rapid in Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River. This Colorado rapid is legendary. This class IV Colorado rapid is challenging for some but as long as you are rafting with a River Runners Guide you are in good hands.
After a successful run through Siedels's Suckhole your rafting group will challenge a few more rapids and sadly enough this trip ends at Stone Bridge near Salida, Colorado.
