The Aladdin was one of many hotels in Las Vegas that were torn down to make room for new and much larger mega resorts.

@hoosiertim actually, this aladdin was demolished so the newer aladdin could be rebuilt and planet hollywood would buy them out.

They simply converted the "new" Aladin into the Planet Hollywood Hotel/casino. Same structure, new theme.

Didn't they also implode the new one also just like couple of years ago? Now the new Aladdin is now being replaced by Planet Hollywood.
