Bitten// A Niley Story Prologue

Hi, this is a new story, and as you may have guessed it is a vampire story BUT it's nothing like Twilight. Promise.

Prologue

They always said that there was no way to know if you were going to get bitten. How could you? The Hunters hang around in the darkness around you. They follow you for months before they finally attack. When it happens they say it can be terrifying, dark eyes bore into you before leaning down and biting into the tender skin in your neck. Then you start the immediate change into a Vampire. My iPod blared music as I walked down the street to my house. I had stayed late after school for cheer practice and it had started to get dark. I pulled my sweater a little closer to me as the winter chill surrounded me. The setting sun threw eerie shadows across the empty street and I didn't even notice the boy watching me from out of the shadows. The music on my iPod switched to a song I didn't recognise, it was a sweet song. It made me close my eyes and sway to the beat. It was enticing but I couldn't place the song anywhere, yet I felt as if my body, my mind and my soul remembered it from somewhere. I opened my eyes and found myself looking into the eyes of a teenage boy.
"Miley" he whispered huskily. The music had somehow started to play louder, the beat shooting through me as if I was standing on a drum. He moved a step closer and wrapped a hand behind my waist and I felt myself shudder in his embrace. All my senses were heightened and even though in the back of my mind I knew that what was happening was crazy, I couldn't stop myself from welcoming his touch. Then so suddenly, I didn't even realise, he bent down and kissed the ridge of my neck next to my collarbone. I shocked gasp escaped my lips, but was silenced when he moved up and gently sunk his teeth into my neck. Feelings erupted inside of me, and even though my instincts were yelling at me to run, get far away from him as possible, I didn't. I lent my head back, allowing him to suck more easily. He lifted his head up from my neck and pulled me closer to him, planting a sweet kiss on my lips before turning away from me and running away.
