The Tronco System is an amalgam of old and new approaches to building construction, combining time-proven principles of the wooden logs with sturdy, lightweight, metallic logs, called "metalogs" (Tronco means "log" in Spanish). The System provides speed and simplicity in the construction of quality building superstructures anywhere, including in the middle of nowhere.

Metalogs are custom-made at construction sites out of galvanized steel or aluminum strip material (using mobile tube forming machines or "TFMs"), with connector elements inserted into either end. Metalogs are then put together, much as in the original wooden structures, into perpendicular walls, upper floors and roofs of structurally integrated buildings. The superstructure is finished in the manner best suited to its end use, with the metalogs either conveying a "high-tech" look to walls and ceilings, or with metalogs hidden from view.

When metalogs are to be hidden from view, wall and ceilings may receive most any type of cladding. The easiest and fastest option is to use insulated "troncopanels" and cement stucco on exterior walls, and gypsum board directly screwed to the metalogs on interior walls and ceilings (no furring required). Troncopanels are made of high-density polystyrene and are flat on one side, with the other side shaped as an exact counterpart of the tubular structure against which they are simply cement-glued.

The System has a number of advantages over conventional construction methods:

• Speed of construction:

The System significantly reduces construction time. One TFM allows for construction of 300m2 (roughly 3,200sqf) of built floor area within one eight-hour shift. Additional TFMs operating at one or various locations on simultaneous basis will do as much more.

• Easy on-site production

Metalogs are custom-made at construction site and can be assembled into freestanding walls and into up to 3-story building superstructures, most of which is done by locally hired helpers.

• Mobile manufacturing equipment

The System's equipment fits into special containers, transportable by boat, truck or even aircraft to construction sites, while the volume ratio between coils and superstructure is approx 1-to-300.

• Step-by-step approaches

The metallic building superstructures without their exterior cladding are indeed habitable shells, allowing end-users and/or local contractors to finish the construction on their own at a later stage (particularly well adapted for "do-it-yourself" programs).

• Durability

Superstructures are notoriously resistant to earthquakes, hurricanes, rust, rot and termites. Moreover, Tronco buildings weigh four times less than conventional brick-and-mortar structures, thus permitting construction on unstable soils, as well as on top of pre-existing buildings.

• Comfort

The System's unique insulated "troncopanels" are cement-glued to walls and roof, providing for comfortable buildings under any climatic conditions, including extreme cold and warm weather. Similar degrees of comfort are achieved during the warm season in the absence of wall cladding, which may be applied at a later stage, without affecting the use of internal spaces.

• Market-friendliness

Custom-designed Tronco superstructures, either with paint sprayed over their metalog façades, or with cement-stucco, brick-veneer, wood siding or most any other type of exterior cladding, allow for attractive architectural solutions, whether traditional or contemporary.

• Cost competitiveness

Irrespective of whether the metallic superstructures represent only 20 or as much as 80 percent of overall construction costs (depending on type of building and specifications), the end product is less expensive and considerably faster to construct than comparable alternative options.

• Certifications and Protection

The System has received national code certifications in a number of countries, including the US. Multiple patents on a worldwide basis cover proprietary use of the System.
