  • Just miss Rick Wakeman

  • I just cannot accept Jon no being there. I didn't even bother going to see them when they did free show. I have a feeling it's over for yes. Sorry David. I know you love the bad. Too bad your killing it.

  • Respond to this video... The first rehearsals had in fact featured Bill Bruford on drums, an original member of Yes who had left in 1972.[ It was later recorded as a studio demo and was never recorded for Drama, but it was performed live on the subsequent tour, of which a live performance appears on the compilation live album The Word is Live (2005).[

  • In 1980, singer Trevor Horn and keyboardist Geoff Downes of The Buggles replaced Yes members Anderson and Rick Wakeman. They feature on Drama (1980) and its supporting tour. Before joining the band, Horn and Downes had first approached Squire, Howe, and White with a demo titled "We Can Fly from Here."

  • Respond to this video... I too love the album, btw. I just make my point that it is not a cover tune in the way the others I mentioned were. The song existed in 1980 and was played on tour in 1980. THey simply took it and did it right this time.

  • @4eyed4stringer I am not arguing that Geoff Downs Andd Trvor Horne WROTE the song. But they wrote it FOR YES in 1980, not as a BUGGLES tune because they wrote that and Run Thought the Light FOR them, before they got into the band. They then presented those 2 tunes. What I said was that the song was never released in studio form until the Buggles reissue a few years ago, UNTIL NOW, that is. I never said they did not write the song.

  • @jpirard I love the new album. I wish all classic prog bands could still generate music like this. Say what you want: Geoff and Trevor wrote the Fly From Here song. I don't know why this Buggles...excuse me..bugs you so much! :-) I'm just kidding-- I'm not slighting the work. I LOVE the tunes. If they covered those other songs, I'm not sure why you're adament that they wrote this one? They didn't.

  • @4eyed4stringer YEs did cover tunes before. No OPPORTUNITY NECCESARY is a RICHIE HAVENS song. THEN is a STEVEN STILLS song, EVERY LITTLE THING is a BEATLES song, AMERICA is a SIMON and GARFUNKEL song, I SEE YOU is a BYRDS song so there is ample precedent. And the truth is , the fact that a song presented to the group in 1980, written at that time for them by 2 new members is not the same thing as doing a cover of an established work,. Again it was never released until the BUGGLES reissue.

  • It was a song that Geoff and Trevor brought to the band that they arranged in 1980. It never made it ti the album but was played on that tour. there is a version of YES in the studio from 1980 but it is a rough mix only. The BUGGLES recorded it too, but it was never released until the re-release of Adventures in Modern Recording was released recently, as a bonus track. The Buggles never

performed it. In fact they did no live appearances until quite recently.
