Sound test of Sennheiser MKE 400 Shotgun Mic on Kodak Zi8 Pocket HD Videocamera.

- Kodak Zi8 Internal Mic
- Sennheiser MKE 400 Shotgun Mic - Normal (-)
- Sennheiser MKE 400 Shotgun Mic - High (+)

In this video I used a tripod to hold the Kodak Zi8 and a Monopod to hold the Sennheiser MKE 400 Shotgun Mic. You can also use a bracket to hold the camera, mic and optional light. The Zi8 has a great mic at close distances, for times when the speaker is further away, or when you want to capture audio from more than one person at a time, the Sennheiser MKE 400 Shotgun Mic is a good choice. It's also much more compact thatn the comparable Rode Video Mic.

  • @mejirogymfriesland Internal mic is good on this and the playsport too...

  • I so wish that they'd do a flip-over LCD screen so I can see myself when recording!

  • thanks so much, i was looking for a new camera i could put a shotgun mic in. You made mah day

  • This is going to sound weird, but I'm going to try to explain it as best as I can.

In this video you have multiple angles (one of you talking, another of the mics) but the audio is steady and in the same take. How did you get the audio all in one track but with multiple angles?

Do external mics automatically record as a seperate audio and video track, or do you use a special editing program to do it?

    Thanks and much appreciation.

  • @grantast I know! My HTC evo does it, but it's not nearly as good of a picture... Come on, Kodak- you can do it!

  • Thanks for this- though all of the audio sounds pretty good. Just a thought- would you consider testing this out in a noisier setting? That's always my problem. You ROCK, Steve!

  • @grantast I am totally with you on that. To do vlogging, I need to see myself. Didn't realize how much I missed not having it until I wanted it.
