The Power of Now, Stillness Speaks, and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle completely changed my life. The idea that the present moment is all there is and how our ego/mind lives to distract us from it was a big revelation to me.

Once you clearly see that it is your attachment to your thoughts that is causing you to suffer, it is possible to allow them to be without needing to "do" anything about them. To rest in the ever present Awareness that is your True nature because it is the only thing that does not come or go, yet itself can never be known simply because it is already what you are! Realization of this is called Enlightenment, Awakening, or simply Freedom.

The reason why Eckhart Tolle is special, is because he is one of those few people who has had a real and profound mystical experience, known as illumination. It's the experience which all true mystics on the path seek to attain. His words would have been meaningless if he hadn't had that experience, also known as cosmic consciuosness. I mention this because it is important. His words do come from the source, from within, which is why he has a strong impact on others. I respect him immensely.

religion is man-made nonsense that has caused the deaths amd misery of perhpas billions of people thru out time. People who take a literal meaning out of what Jesus said are mis-interpretating. When jesus disappeared between the ages of 13-30, where do you think he went? He went to learn from the spiritual masters of the east. He went to learn and practice exactly the philosophy that Eckhart Tolle and others like him teach! Kaballah is also a non-religous method of connecting to the spirit.
