If I recall correctly, this version of Jeopardy ran from 1978-1979 and was paired with Password Plus. P+ lasted a good three or four seasons but this Jeopardy version never caught on.

Maybe it aired late in the run as a last ditch effort to save the show. Strange indeed that a tournament of champions would be staged for a game show that only lasted five months. The show was bulldozed in the ratings by The Price is Right and later on by The Young and the Restless. With competition like that, you have to wonder if NBC had any faith in the show in the first place, especially considering the format change was a condition the network put on Merv Griffin to bring it back.

When in the run was this show from? This is quite a find, as only two episodes of this version have turned up on the game show trading circuit(the first and last episodes, and the last episode aired on GSN a few years back)
