Wow! What an excellent clip. How prophetic. We are still taking it in the shorts from the big corporations. WalMart, Home Depot, et al make billions by undermining domestic industry and shoppers still support them while the local economy falls around their ears.

I wish I could say for certain whether or not Tucker said this at his trial. I've heard indications saying yes, and others saying no. But Tucker did write an open letter to the Big Three when he was coming under heavy fire, and it was much along these lines.

very powerful statements, its still true today

Sadly from the once great industry that was America we barely make anything anymore. Congress allowed these huge companies to sub out labor overseas... actually giving cuts and tax advantages to companies that move off shore... where did we all go wrong... If WW2 happened today I hate to say it but we would be defeated.. There would be no way we could crank out the things the world needed to fight the war. The only way to fix our country is to put people back to work. Make our own things!!!

The government was corrupt back then too.
It's the corporatism, stupid.

Our music video "Hans out of Luck" addresses this issue of a government nurtured corporate economy. One little quibble: corporations and nation states coevolved. I challenge you to come up with any kind of real example of a corporation existing independently of government. You could start a militia independently of government easier than a corporation.

@TheBardsofBalance The Boston Tea Party was about the unfair tax relief of the British East India Tea Company. America was founded in revolt to corporatism.
Corporations in America, as a result, were given limited purpose and were meant only as temporary institutions. If a Corporation violated these rules, the government was to abolish them.
The example is the idea of America itself.
